“We have had close contact with the Turkish Presidential Administration since spring of the previous year. Communication has become closer in recent days,” said the statement released by the Office of the President of Finland on behalf of the head of state Sauli Niinistonu, APA reports.
“It turned out that Turkish President Erdogan wants to meet and fulfill his promise partly by deciding on the ratification of Finland's membership in NATO. The Turks hoped that I would be there to receive the answer when they announced the decision.”
