"The Swedish Prime Minister hopes that the relations between his country and Turkiye will strengthen," said Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson at a joint press conference with EU Council President Charles Michel.
The Prime Minister said that the meeting focused on the security in Europe, strengthening support for Ukraine, and Sweden's and Finland's applications for NATO membership.
Prime Minister Andersson said that many NATO member states are also members of the EU, and they support Sweden's intention to join the alliance.
"We believe that with the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, the alliance will be further strengthened. Sweden will be a constructive ally of NATO," he said.
Swedish Prime Minister Andersson also touched upon talks with Turkey.
"Dialogue between Turkey and Sweden continues. I also expect that mutual relations between the two countries will strengthen, including peace, security, and the fight against terrorism," said Magdalena Andersson.
