German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that "there is consensus" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Western weapons will not be used to attack Russia, APA reports citing Teletrader.
In an interview with Bild am Sonntag, he said that his government "carefully weighed every arms shipment" and coordinated with allies, especially the United States. "This joint approach prevents the war from escalating," he said.
Scholz added that Russian President Vladimir Putin never threatened him in their phone conversations, although they both expressed their differing views on Ukraine clearly. "I make it very clear to Putin that Russia has sole responsibility for the war. For no reason, Russia has invaded its neighbor to take parts of Ukraine or the whole country under its nails. We cannot simply accept that, because it fundamentally violates the European peace order."
