We reject the European Union's Foreign Relations Service's statement on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus's election as an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States, it reflected on the statement of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APA's Istanbul correspondent.

It was noted that the decision on the Republic of Cyprus's observer membership, one of the two states on the island of Cyprus, was unanimously adopted at the Organization of Turkic States summit in Samarkand on November 11, 2022.

"As stated in the declaration, Turkish Cypriots are an integral part of the Turkic World and have a natural right to establish and develop relations with Turkic states.

On the island of Cyprus, a just, permanent, and lasting solution can only be achieved after a process that begins with the registration of the Turkish Cypriot people's sovereign equality and equal international status, which has been usurped since 1963," it was said.

It was also stated that in order to accomplish this, the international community should abandon its policy of viewing the Greek Cypriot administration as the sole owner of the island and instead recognize the TRNC: "Turkiye will continue to stand by the TRNC and be the voice of Turkish Cypriots on all international platforms."
