Russian troops are stepping up offensive operations in eastern Ukraine, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Alexander Motuzyanik said, APA reports quoting Unian.net.
He noted that the main operational activity is observed in Slobojanske and Donetsk.
Alexander Motuzyanik stressed that the main goals of the Russian forces remain unchanged - the siege of Ukrainian defense forces, the full control of Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson, and the stability of the occupied Crimean highway.
He added that there are signs that Russia is ready to intensify the fighting.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry did not rule out the possibility of declaring a general mobilization in Russia: "If the enemy can not achieve its plans in the short term, such a scenario is quite possible, we do not rule it out."
