The U.S. Embassy has addressed the reports regarding the creation of a U.S. military base in Georgia, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
The embassy's statement noted that such a proposal was not made to Georgia.
"The U.S. has not proposed the establishment of a U.S. military base in Georgia," the statement emphasized.
According to the statement, the defense relations between Georgia and the U.S. are based on enhancing mutual operational capabilities and supporting Georgia in safeguarding its sovereign territories.
Note that on the previous day, Georgia's "Mtavari Arxi" TV channel reported that during the visit of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in 2021, the proposal for the creation of a U.S. military base in Georgia was made, but the "Georgian Dream" government rejected this offer.
