Austria, Germany and Hungary do not support the proposal to impose an embargo on Russian gas supplies, said Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, APA reports citing CNN.

According to him, the European Commission and the EU Council are already studying a ban on oil imports. However, blue fuel is a separate issue, since the industry of different countries depends on it.

“You know, the European Union has decided that we should try to do everything to end dependence on Russian gas, Austria also wants this, of course. But now it is impossible. It will take time,” Nehammer added.

Western countries have become especially active in declaring their intention to stop buying Russian energy resources as a result of a special operation in Ukraine. Moscow started it with the aim of denazification and demilitarization of Ukrainian territories.
