The World Health Organization's chief said Saturday that the monkeypox outbreak was a deeply concerning evolving health threat but did not currently amount to a global public health emergency, APA reports citing Agence France Presse (AFP)
"At this moment the event does not constitute a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, which is the highest level of alert WHO can issue," the UN health agency's director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a statement, following a meeting of experts convened to consider the question.
