Azerbaijani taekwondo player Gashim Magomedov won the title of European champion, APA reports.
The athlete competing in the 58 kg weight class ascended to the top of the podium at the continental championship for Olympic weight classes held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.
With this, the number of medals for our team in the continental championship for Olympic weight classes has risen to three. Prior to Magomedov, who demonstrated his strength in the competition with the support of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation, Javad Aghayev (68 kg) and Hamedreza Badrialiabadi (+80 kg) secured silver medals.
As a result, our team's medal count in the continental championship for Olympic weight classes has now reached three. Before Magomedov, who showcased his prowess with the backing of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation, both Javad Aghayev (68 kg) and Həmidreza Badrialiabadi (+80 kg) secured silver medals.
Meanwhile, at the concurrently held European Youth Championship in Estonia, our team wrapped up with 2 medals. Salima Guliyeva (42 kg) secured the silver medal, while Mahammad Hasanli (45 kg) earned the bronze accolade.
Thus, Azerbaijani taekwondo fighters won 1 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medals in 2 European championships lasting 3 days.
