European champion Azerbaijani wrestlers return to Baku-PHOTO

Azerbaijan’s European champion national Greco-Roman wrestling team has returned home, APA reports.

Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation representatives, members of the public, members of the media, and wrestlers' relatives greeted the athletes at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Note that Azerbaijan’s national Greco-Roman wrestling team took first place at the European Championships in Budapest, Hungary, with a total of 165 points. Turkey, with 150 points, took second place, and Georgia, with 114 points, took third place.

In addition, the Azerbaijani team surpassed everyone in the number of medals. The team won 8 medals, followed by Turkey with 7 and Georgia 5 medals at European Championships.

Turkey, which won 3 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals, took first place in the medal count.

The Azerbaijani team finished second with two gold medals, one silver medal, and five bronze medals, while Georgia finished third with one gold medal, three silver medals, and one bronze medal.

Note that team members Eldaniz Azizli (55 kg) and Rafig Huseynov (82kg) won gold, Taleh Mammadov (63kg) won silver, Murad Mammadov (60kg), Hasrat Jafarov (67kg), Ulvi Qanizada (72kg), Sanan Suleymanov (77kg), and Islam Abbasov (87kg) won bronze medals.

Totally, Azerbaijani teams won 16 medals in the European championships.
