Average monthly nominal salary in Azerbaijan increased by up to 21% during January-August

As of September 1 of this year, the number of employees working for hire in the Azerbaijani economy increased by 59,8 thousand people or 3,7% compared with the same period of the last year and was 1 670,9 thousand people, of which 902,3 thousand people functioned in public sector of the economy, while 768,6 thousand people – in the non-public sector, says the statement of the State Statistics Committee, APA-Economics reports.

“19,4% of people working for hire were employed in the sphere of education, 18,3% - in the sphere of trade; repair of transport facilities, 13,2% - in the sphere of industry, 8,3% - in the sphere of construction, 8,2% - in the sphere of rendering of health and social services to population, 6,6% - in the sphere of state management and defense; social security, 4,5% - in the sphere of transport and storehouse business, 3,4% - in agriculture, forestry and fishery, 3,4% - in the sphere of vocational, scientific and technical activity, 1,7% - in the sphere of financial and insurance activity, while 13% - in other spheres of the economy”, the information reads.

During January-August of 2020, the average monthly nominal salary of the employees working for hire in the Azerbaijani economy increased by 20,5% compared to relevant period of the previous year and was AZN710,2. The average monthly nominal salary in such spheres of economy as mining and extraction industry, financial and insurance activity, vocational, scientific and technical activity, information and communication, as well as transport and storehouse business was higher.
