Minister: “Although it is unexpected, 80 thousand workplaces were opened in the country since early March, under condition of pandemic”

Although it is unexpected, under the condition of coronavirus pandemic, from early March up today about 80 thousand workplaces were opened in Azerbaijan, said the minister of Economic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov at the official presentation of the report “Foreign Business in Azerbaijan 2020” published by German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce within the framework of the cooperation with KPMG Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports.

According to the minister, newly opened workplaces made up 15% of total labor contracts in the private sector.

M. Jabbarov also noted that against the background of the pandemic Azerbaijan was able to keep the main economic indicators at the level of the beginning of the year and as an example, it brought the almost unchanged volume of the strategic foreign exchange reserves of the country. Touching upon a stable foreign exchange market, the minister also noted that the exchange rate of manat remained stable.

Note that the report “Foreign Business in Azerbaijan” based on the results of the Business Environment Survey attended by the representatives of foreign businesses operating in Azerbaijan and especially focuses on the investment environment in the country.
