EBRD doubled investments in Azerbaijan last year

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested 34 mln. euro in Azerbaijan within the framework of 8 projects in 2021, APA-Economics reports citing EBRD.\

Volume of investments has increased by 2 times in annual comparison, and the number of projects increased from 6 to 8.

As a result, on November 30 of 2021, the volume of the active portfolio of the bank in Azerbaijan has made up 801 mln euros (including outstanding liabilities). 88% ( 709 mln euros) of the portfolio is invested in sustainable infrastructure, 9% (73 mln euros) in industry, trade, and agribusiness, and 3% (20 mln euros) is invested in financial institutions.

Thus, EBRD has invested in Azerbaijan in the amount of 3,305 bln euros on 178 projects so far and 85,55 of the amount (2,825 bln euros) has been already appropriated by borrowers.12% of the total investments have fallen to the share of the private sector.
