EBRD to allocate loan for expanding broadband Internet network in Azerbaijan

"A loan will be involved from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for expansion of broadband internet network in Azerbaijan," Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov while his speech at a meeting with participation of EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, currently, necessary measures are taken to provide the country with 100% broadband internet so that every family can benefit from fast telecommunication services.

"In order to speed up the implementation of these ambitious projects, we are considering obtaining a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. We have already covered 600,000 households with optical internet and we plan to increase this figure to 800,000 by the end of the year. I should note that currently in about 700 villages across the country has no access to a fixed broadband network," Samir Mammadov said.

THE OPERATION IS BEING PERFORMED
