The La Liga clash between Cadiz and Barcelona on Saturday evening was stopped due to a medical emergency in the crowd.

A fan fell ill just after the 80-minute mark at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla. Per AS English, the supporter suffered a heart attack and needed urgent medical attention, APA reports citing GiveMeSport (GMS).

Play quickly came to a halt as medical attention was provided to the fan.

Cadiz’s goalkeeper, Jeremías Conan Ledesma, was seen delivering a medical kit to the stands.

Ronald Araujo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen were both seen praying for the fan’s health on the pitch.

Players were waiting for around 20 minutes before they were told to leave the pitch and head back to their dressing room.

At the time of writing, play is still suspended and it is unknown when or whether it will restart.

The score was 2-0 to Barcelona before the stoppage.
