Argentina will have three days of national mourning after the news of Diego Maradona's death, APa reports citing Reuters.

The country's president, Alberto Fernandez declared the country will have a period of national mourning after the legendary footballer passed away, aged 60.

According to his lawyer, Maradona died after suffering a heart attack at his home.

It comes just two weeks after the World Cup winner left hospital where he underwent surgery on the brain.

Reports claim that paramedics were called to the former Napoli player's home, but despite attempts to resuscitate him, he sadly died.

Since news of his passing was reported, there has been an outpouring of emotion, with people sending their condolences to his family and sharing their memories of watching him play.
