Malta training camp and test matches of Azerbaijan’s national team have been cancelled, Apa sport reports.

This has been caused by the widespread of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in various countries of the world in recent days, and the evaluation of the existing situation as a pandemic by the World Health Organization.

AFFA has taken this step taking into consideration Malta’s refusal to receive air flights from a few European countries (Germany, France, Spain, and Switzerland), the existence of the travel risk (due to the virus) of the footballers invited to the staff of Azerbaijan’s national team from foreign countries, and the necessity of prevention of likeliness of infection of the team members and the delegation.

Therefore, the practice training sessions of Azerbaijan’s national team intended to be arranged in Malta during March 23-31 has been canceled. The friendly matches to be held with Liechtenstein’s national team on March 26 and with malta’s national team on March 30 in the framework of the preparation process will be canceled as well.

In this regard, AFFA has provided information to UEFA, and Malta and Liechtenstein football federations in relevant manner.
