Republican stadium named after Tofig Bahramov lands on list of European arenas hosting greatest number of matches

The list of stadiums hosted the greatest number of matches with participation of national teams being members of UEFA has been disclosed, Apasport reports.

Some 85 arenas hosted at least 40 matches at the level of main combined teams have been included in the list.

The Republican stadium named after Tofig Bahramov that mostly hosted matches of Azerbaijan’s combined team have also taken its place in the list.

Some 54 matches at the level of national teams have been held on our country’s No. 1 arena. The stadium in Baku shares 65th place on the list. The “Tolon Pallokenta” stadium in Finland’s capital city of Helsinki has also served as a venue for the same number of matches.

The Republican stadium comes 9th among arenas of the former USSR. And the first place is taken by the “Luzhniki” stadium in Moscow. This sports facility hosted 123 matches has secured 20th place in the list.

The neighbor Turkey’s arena hosted the greatest number of matches is Ismet Inonu stadium. This stadium hosted matches of national level 72 times shares 41st-42nd places in the list.

The list is headed by the “Tella Parken” stadium in Denmark’s capital city of Copenhagen. Some 335 matches at the level of national teams have taken place on this arena. Norway’s “Ullevol” stadium has taken second place. In this sport facility situated in the capital city of Oslo, 324 matches have been organized. The top three places have been taken by Luxembourg’s “Josi Bartel” stadium with 260 matches. The legendary Wembley arena has settled down on the 7th place with 234 matches.
