After the KAS Eupen held the Jupiler Pro-League for two consecutive years under head coach Claude Makelele, the KAS Eupen has decided for the coming season for a new approach with a new head coach, APA reports citing official website of KAS Eupen.

However, Claude Makelele remains attached to the club and will take on a new role as ambassador for social projects until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. KAS Eupen will introduce its new head coach shortly.

KAS Eupen Director, Dr. Andreas Bleicher: “On behalf of our club I would like to thank Claude very much for all his cooperation, dedication, professionalism and success during his spell at the sportive helm of our club. Claude played an integral part of our team saving the league in the last two seasons. Now we opt for an approach of focussing even more on the development of a young, talented squad and at the same time to create excitement on the pitch. Showcasing our excellent relationship with and appreciation for Claude, he will act as our CSR Ambassador for social projects we will put in place from now until the World Cup end of 2022 in Qatar. We will announce details about these CSR projects in due course. Soon we will also present our new Head Coach, with whom we try to enthuse our fans further.”

“I am obviously sad to leave Eupen, but I believe it is the right decision for both parties to enable the club to take a new approach and direction. I would like to thank the club and especially Andreas for the opportunity they gave me to join the club one and a half years ago, and I wish all the best of luck to my successor. I now certainly look forward to making a contribution to bettering the lives of others as CSR Ambassador, and to my next sporting challenge” expressed Claude Makelele.
