Gabriel Jesus was suspended for two months as international of Brazil on Thursday. The striker of Manchester City is thus punished for his behavior in the Copa América final of a month ago, APA reports citing Tellerreport.

The 22-year-old Jesus received his second yellow card in the second half of the 3-1 win against Peru and left the field furiously and in tears.

As he left the field, the attacker made hand gestures, kicked a water bottle, hit the fourth official's dug-out, and almost pushed the VAR screen down. The Brazilian union can still appeal against the proposal for a two-month suspension.

Jesus is not the first top player to hold a suspension at the Copa América. The South American association CONMEBOL previously decided to exclude Lionel Messi for three months.

The five-time Golden Ball winner, who stranded with Argentina in the semi-finals against rival Brazil, strongly criticized the arbitration during the tournament. He spoke of corruption, among other things.

Brazil won the Copa América for the ninth time in history. The 'Seleçao' was the best in South America in 1919, 1922, 1949, 1989, 1997, 1999, 2004 and 2007.
