18 Azerbaijani citizens brought from Pakistan to country

Pakistani citizens have been evacuated from Azerbaijan, the Embassy of Pakistan to Azerbaijan posted on Facebook, APA reports.

"158 stranded Pakistani nationals were repatriated from Baku, Azerbaijan to Islamabad this afternoon by 3rd special PIA Flight. The majority of repatriated Pakistani were tourists/ Businesspersons who arrived in Azerbaijan on short term visas and were unable to return back to Pakistan due to suspension of all international flights, following the COVID-19 outbreak. The initiative for repatriation came about as a result of the Government of Pakistan’s policy to bring back Pakistani nationals stranded in other countries. As a gesture of goodwill, the same flight also brought back 18 Azerbaijani nationals from Pakistan.

The Embassy also made arrangements for transportation of passengers by special buses to Baku Airport in the police escorted envoy.

We are extremely grateful to the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan for their support and cooperation of our citizens," the post reads.
