Some 1,172 Russian citizens have been evacuated from Azerbaijan due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, said Russia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov at today’s press conference, APA reports.
The ambassador said there is quite a great number of Russian citizens in Azerbaijan who wish to return to their motherland.
He said in this regard, over 4 thousand appeals have been received at the embassy.
M. Bocharnikov noted that the works in this area are being continued: “Under the existing circumstances, everything possible is being done. The steps are already being taken in the area of easing of the quarantine regime. The sooner we pass through this phase, the easier will be the implementation of the necessary measures”.
The ambassador stressed that Russia has sent to Azerbaijan 120 test systems envisaged for 12 thousand examinations for laboratory diagnostics of COVID-19.
