“Prior to this, we have not faced pandemic in such a scale,” said Assistant to Azerbaijani President Hikmat Hajiyev at the international webinar “COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical aspects of vaccination” organized by Center for International Relations Analysis, APA reports.

According to him, Azerbaijan had made efforts at the regional level: “Within a broader framework, an additional fund has been established for member states as chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement. When COVID-19 started, we did not see an international approach to the international crisis. Unfortunately, we have not seen large-scale events organized within the UN or under their umbrella. In this regard, the President of Azerbaijan initiated the convening of an extraordinary session of the UN. We are very glad that the UN and its member states supported this initiative.”

Assistant to the President said that he also got vaccinated against coronavirus: “I get the vaccine and I feel no side-effect.”

H. Hajiyev noted that nationalization of vaccines is a serious issue: “We observe such kind of issues. Countries with low incomes have not started this program yet. There is such information that countries with high income receive vaccine more than their needs and other countries do not have enough”.
