Azerbaijan’s MFA: It has been proved that mortars and other weapons used against Azerbaijan are of Serbian origin, we are waiting for response from that country

“I have met with the temporary charge d’affaires of Serbia. I openly said we have completely accurate information confirming that this incident has occurred, and the Serbian side should investigate it”, said today at the press conference the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Khalaf Khalafov, APA reports.

Kh. Khalafov said the contacts are being continued via the embassy: “Some responses have already been provided to us. As of now, Serbia has officially started investigation of this case. We expect that the official investigation will be completed in the nearest future and the response will be provided to the Azerbaijani side. We have demanded from Serbia both the explanation and the elimination of the reasons that have resulted in taking of these steps. This is the issue that touches upon the bilateral relations. I have noted that this is a very sensitive issue in the bilateral relations. Regretfully, the initial investigations proved that the mortars and other weapons used against the residential settlements and the position of our military forces on Azerbaijan’s border are of the Serbian origin. The is some liberality in the international law regarding the issue of origin of goods. But the situation is different in the issue of origin of weapons. The countries to which such weapons are exported should be under control of the manufacturing country”.
