The press service department of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued a statement on the death of a civilian as a result of artillery fire by the Armenian armed forces, APA reports.

According to the report, Azizov Aziz Izzet oglu, born in 1944, a resident of Aghdam village of Tovuz region, was killed as a result of artillery fire opened by Armenian armed forces in the direction of Tovuz region of Azerbaijan on July 14, 2020.

Targeting of the Azerbaijani civilian population by Armenia and the firing of heavy weapons is a clear manifestation of fascism and barbarism.

This is part of Armenia's aggressive policy.

The murder of an Azerbaijani civilian is a bloody crime.

The purposeful targeting of and firing from heavy weapons on the Azerbaijani civil population by Armenia is the obvious manifestation of fascism and barbarity. This is an integral part of Armenia’s aggressive policy. The killing of the Azerbaijani civil person is a bloody crime.

Previously, the Armenian side already targeted purposefully the Azerbaijani civil persons and committed criminal actions against humanity in regard to them. The killing with extreme brutality of 613 civil people in Khojaly on February 26, 1992, the Azerbaijani civil persons including juvenile children living along the border, as well as near the contact line and becoming a target of bullets of the enemy acting deliberately, and killing of 6 and wounding of 33 civil persons during the incidents occurred in April of 2016 are the innocent victims of the Armenian aggression.

The Armenian armed forces along with continuously subjecting to fire from heavy weapons our residential settlements, also cause serious damage to people’s farms, properties, the infrastructure of their living accommodations.

By such actions, Armenia blatantly violates the international humanitarian law including Geneva Conventions adopted in 1949 and the obligations undertaken by it in this regard.

We call on the international community to show tough response to the cases of targeting of the peaceful Azerbaijani population by the Armenian military units and the Azerbaijani civil persons becoming a victim of Armenia’s purposeful bloody provocation and to condemn these unlawful actions of Armenia.

The responsibility for the killing of the Azerbaijani civil person falls on Armenia’s political and military leaders.
