The draft law "On approval of the Agreement on the mutual function of customs authorities in the field of protection of intellectual property rights of the Commonwealth of Independent States" was discussed at a meeting of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan today, APA reports.

The pre-condition of the Republic of Azerbaijan has found its reflection in the Agreement “about the mutual activity of customs agencies in the area of protection of rights over intellectual property facilities of the participating States of the Commonwealth of Independent States” signed on May 31, 2019, at the meeting of Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS countries held in Ashgabat City.

It is noted in the document that as long as the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan occupied by the Republic of Armenia are not liberated and the results of the occupation are not completely eliminated, none of the rights, obligations, and provisions stipulated in the Agreement will be applied by the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Armenia, as well as in regard to the activity implemented on the occupied territories.

The law draft has been recommended to the plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament after discussions.
