"As a result of a joint operation carried out by the State Security Service and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an Armenian terrorist and sabotage group of 62 people was detained and transferred to the investigation, purposefully deployed by Armenia in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation," it was reflected in the response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia dated January 9, 2021, APA reports.

The MFA said that all the detainees were called up from the Shirak region of Armenia for military service in the armed forces of Armenia and were placed in these territories with the aim of committing sabotage and terrorist acts on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan against the military personnel of the armed forces and the civilian population of Azerbaijan: "During the investigation, it was established that members of the Armenian terrorist and sabotage group were sent to the territory of Azerbaijan on November 26, 2020, that is, after the ceasefire regime entered into force, achieved by a trilateral statement signed by the Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation and the Prime Minister of Armenia."
