“Unfortunately, consequences of Armenian occupation, is devastating. Almost all historical, cultural, and religious monuments have completely been destroyed during occupation. More than 400 of thousands of monuments have been determined to be destroyed so far. Cultural and religious properties of Azerbaijan have been plundered, destructed, changed, and taken to Armenia illegally. It is a clear violation of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two Protocols, as well as the 1970 Convention,” said Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UNESCO, Ambassador Elman Abdullayev while his speech at the 211th session of the Execution Board of the organization, APA reports citing AZERTAG.

He stressed that Armenian armed forces targeted Shusha city using “Iskander” ballistic missiles during the Patriotic War of 44 days. Shusha city is the cultural capital of Azerbaijan and has been included in the Initial List of UNESCO World Heritage. Armenian Prime Minister confessed shelling ballistic missile in Shusha, which have many cultural and religious monuments, himself. It is an obvious military crime and clear violation of the 1954 Hague Convention and its Second Protocol. This animosity action, confessed at the highest level in Armenia, reflects the severe approach of the Armenian government to cultural and religious values clearly. Those, who are responsible for these actions, should be brought to just court.
