Department of Azerbaijani MFA in Nakhchivan AR issues statement regarding the abolition of the visa regime - UPDATED

Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has issued a statement regarding the abolition of the visa regime for Iranian citizens visiting the Autonomous Republic, APA reports.

According to the statement, the Visa regime for Iranian citizens traveling to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been abolished, and since December 1 Iranian citizens will be able to visit Nakhchivan without a visa for 15 days.

The visa regime for travel to other regions of Azerbaijan is in force.

“It is being formalized that citizens of Islamic Republic of Iran will be provided with single-entry permit for 15 days in Julfa, Shahtakhti, and Sadarak border checkpoints for enter while visiting Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the exchange for 5 euros state fee, while with single-entry visas (simple) for 30 days in mentioned border checkpoints while visiting Baku or other regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan from Nakhchivan AR via air transport in the exchange for USD 20 state fee. However, entry permits for 15 days and single-entry visas (simple), formalized for citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the above-mentioned border checkpoints will be abolished from December 1, 2019. Citizens of Islamic Republic of Iran will be able to visit the territory of the Autonomous Republic for 15 days without any visa or entry permit since that date”, reads the information."

Visa regime has been canceled for Iranian citizens, visiting Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (AR), APA’s Tehran bureau reports citing Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nakhchivan AR.

According to the Consulate, the Iranian citizens are to be able to enter the autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan without needing to obtain a visa as of December 1 and they can stay there for a period of 15 days.

Note that the amount of visa fee has been decreased for Iranian citizens, visiting Nakhchivan in October of this year.
