EU Ambassador: “Negotiations on a new partnership agreement with Azerbaijan coming to an end"

“The places taken by Azerbaijan in various rating lists represent very big significance for the country’s development”, said Kestutis Jankauskas, Head of European Union’s (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan today in Guba at the awareness-raising training seminar dedicated to the topic of “Strengthening of opportunities for access to justice by means of extra-court mechanisms for the victims of the crimes committed under the circumstances of discrimination and hatred in the Eastern Partnership countries” held with joint organizational support of Ombudsman, Council of Europe and EU, APA’s north bureau reports.

Stressing the importance of the seminar, organized in Guba, the Ambassador noted that Azerbaijan is a member of the Council of Europe and a very important partner of the European Union: “Talks with Azerbaijan on the new partnership agreement are being finalized. We form Eastern Partnership, of which Azerbaijan is a member, together this year. We expect leaders come together in July and instruct us on the development direction of our cooperation.”

Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva stated that human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan have regulated in the context of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, normative-legal acts, and international agreements, joined by the country.
