EU: Supporting dialogue at the highest level between Armenia and Azerbaijan to be continued

High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has delivered a speech at the European Parliament Plenary debate on eastern neighbourhood developments on November 27, 2019, APA reports citing official website of the EU.

During her speech she touched on her opportunity to work with Eastern Partners in last 5 years and noted that when she took office in 2014, that was the most important element of our foreign and security policy agenda of EU and stressed the EU is now closer to Eastern Partners.

"With Azerbaijan, the work continues in order to finalise a new agreement. We want an ambitious agreement in line with international standards, one that ranges from human rights to support of the diversification their economy.

We will also continue to work for the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Garabagh conflict, encouraging and supporting dialogue at the highest level between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We fully support the mediation efforts and the proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, including through the work of our Special Representative", she noted.

It should be noted that “Azerbaijan” link, included a part of her speech, which deals with Azerbaijan, especially solution of the conflict, put in the official website of EU External Action directs reader to press-conference of XVI meeting of EU-Azerbaijan Cooperation Council held in April of this year in Brussels. Remind that in that mentioned press-conference High Representative called Azerbaijan EU’s very important partner and stressed that Azerbaijan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity are fully supporter by EU.
