Embassy issues statement on 10 Azerbaijani citizens detained during clashes in Dagestan

Embassy of Azerbaijan to Russia has issued a statement regarding detained Azerbaijani citizens during the clashes on the Russia-Azerbaijan border on June 15, 2020, the Embassy told APA’s Moscow correspondent.

During this period the above-mentioned issue has been kept in focus, the employees of the Embassy held meetings with detained ones, at the same time with the representatives of relevant state bodies of Russia, within the powers of the embassy, comprehensive assistance has been provided to Azerbaijani citizens.

It has been noted that the criminal case against Jeyhun Namazov, Elbrus Ahmedov, Nahid Aghayev, Aziz Farajzadeh, Elmar Mehtiyev, Tural Giyasov and Elmar Musayev has been terminated and they have been released.

Anvar Muradov has imprisoned for a year in accordance with the decision of Derbent District Court. An appeal has been filed from the conviction regarding him.

When it comes to other 2 Azerbaijani citizens – Rovshan Huseynov and Emin Imamaliyev, they are accused in accordance with the Article 318.2 of the Russian Criminal Code. Their criminal case will be sent to Maharramkend district court of the Republic of Dagestan for consideration. Currently, those people are under house arrest.

Azerbaijani embassy to Russia will continue to pay attention to this issue.
