On October 2, France’s President Emmanuel Macron has made a phone call to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Presidential press service told APA.

French President expressed concern over the ongoing battles on the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line and called for the restoration of the ceasefire and holding negotiations soon.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that as a result of heavy artillery shelling of Azerbaijani settlements by the Armenian armed forces, 19 Azerbaijani civilians were killed, more than 60 people were injured and hundreds of houses were destroyed. Carrying out successful counter-offensive operations, Azerbaijani Army liberated part of our territories from occupation.

The head of the state also stated that Armenia has dealt a major blow to the negotiation process by taking steps to disrupt it.  President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized that Armenian leadership bears full responsibility for the violation of negotiations, as well as the outbreak of armed conflict.
