The unilateral “recognition” of Nagorno-Karabakh will not benefit anyone, nor will it serve as mediating efforts, Secretary of State at the French Foreign Ministry Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said, APA reports.

According to the diplomat, this step does not reflect the policy of the French government: “The settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict depends not on one-sidedness, but on the dialogue between the two sides. Today, the parties need the support of the co-chairs (OSCE Minsk Group - France, Russia, the United States) to continue the dialogue.

Lemoyne added that the world community, including Armenia, has not recognized the "independence" of Nagorno-Karabakh.

It should be noted that the French Senate passed a resolution calling on the government to recognize the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic". The decision is of a recommendatory nature.
