Head of Baku Office of the CoE expresses gratitude to Azerbaijan for cooperation during elections

“Media has an important role in holding elections independently and democratically ”, said Head of Baku Office of the Council of Europe Zoltán Hernyes at an information session held today on “Covering elections in media”, APA reports

Zoltan Hernyes stated that the Council of Europe made recommendations to member states on covering the elections: “These recommendations are about the role of media. Conditions should be created for media. In other words, both state and private media organizations should be involved in the election process. Before, during and after the elections media should actively participate in this process. At the same time, we extend our gratitude to the Azerbaijani side, as well as, Presidential Administration, CEC, Press Council and other organizations for their cooperation with us during the elections.”

The head of the Baku office of the Council of Europe noted that during the election period, one of the important issues is gender equality: “Gender equality has always been a subject of discussion. Gender equality is important.”
