“We are actively observing the occurrences on Armenia-Azerbaijan border”, said the minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani in the interview with Georgia’s Public TV channel, APA’s local bureau reports.

He said it is necessary that the parties to the conflict would return to the situation existing before July 12: “I has phone conversations with both ministers and expressed our sincere position and concern about the situation. They know our position. We are not interested in further escalation of the situation, on the contrary, it is very important that the parties would return to the situation existed before the date of emergence of the tension”.

D. Zalkaliani noted that the clashes have taken place on the territory beyond Nagorno Garabagh region, directly on Armenia-Azerbaijan border for the first time: “Therefore, even more caution should be demonstrated. There is a need in closer involvement of the international community into this process, first of all, there is a need in activation of the Minsk Group co-chairs and the international mechanisms. The tension should be immediately stopped and the opportunity should be created for international discussions and mechanisms, for de-escalation of the situation and peace agreement”.
