Italian Senate held hearings regarding the latest provocations of Armenia

The Italian Senate Permanent Commission on Foreign Relations with the participation of Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy Mammad Ahmadzade has held hearings regarding the latest provocations committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Embassy to Italy told APA.

Opening the hearings, chairman of the Senate Permanent Commission on Foreign Relations, Senator Vito Petrocelli noted that the Italian Senate is seriously concerned about the events and emphasized the importance of holding discussions on this issue.

Then Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzada made a presentation on the topic.

During his speech, the diplomat talking about historical roots of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Garabagh conflict, spoke in this regard about transmigration of Armenians to the Azerbaijani territories, the establishment of the Armenian state on the historical Azerbaijani lands, expansion of the Armenian territories at the expense of the Azerbaijani territories, the systematic deportation of Azerbaijanis from their historical lands on the present-day Armenian territory, establishment of Nagorno Garabagh Autonomous Oblast in the mountainous part of Azerbaijan’s Garabagh region.

The event was continued with the expression of comments in regard to the occurred incidents by the Italian senators and questioning and answering session.

Most senators noted the importance of the settlement of the conflict through dialogue and negotiations, the main role of the UN Security Council resolutions in a solution of the conflict, and the significance of increasing efforts of the Italian government for settlement of the conflict.ict from the viewpoint of Italy’s interests.
