Jankauskas: "EU and Azerbaijan are at the final stage of negotiations about new agreement"

"In terms of the future of Azerbaijan and the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, the technical assistance project entitled as “The EU’s support to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan Republic in order to catch up with the European standards" has great significance", said Kestutis Jankauskas, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan when making a speech at the conference dedicated to the outcomes of the project, APA reports.

He said the European Union was Azerbaijan’s trade partner #1: "The member countries of the European Union are the countries having made the largest investments in Azerbaijan. The EU also provides support to the implementation of the transport projects passing through Azerbaijan".

Kestutis Jankauskas said currently the European Union and Azerbaijan were at the last stage of negotiations on the new partnership agreement: "After signing of this agreement, the relations between Azerbaijan and the EU will pass over to a new phase".
