Law envisaging mutual travel of Azerbaijani and Turkish citizens with ID cards comes into force

President Ilham Aliyev has approved the law on approving Protocol #1 between the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on making an amendment to the treaty signed on February 25, 2020, in Baku on mutual visa exemption between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey, APA reports.

The law envisages for Azerbaijani citizens to travel to Turkey with an ID card within the framework of visa-free travel.

According to the law, ID card (machine-readable and containing biometric data in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization document 9303 and its current annexes) of a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan included in the list of valid border crossing documents for visa-free travel for citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to the Republic of Turkey.

This issue is also applied to the visit of Turkish citizens to Azerbaijan.
