One Armenian detained in connection with provocation committed in Los Angeles, criminal case related to crime on grounds of hatred to be launched

Los Angeles Police Department announced on July 23 that Azerbaijanis were attacked and injured by Armenian groups during the violence in front of Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Los Angeles on July 21, Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles told APA.

“Note that after the occurrence of the incident, the Armenian Dashnaks and the Armenian propaganda as a whole presenting themselves as victims on all social media platforms, saying Azerbaijanis committed acts of aggression against them, tries to cover up their own crimes. Meanwhile, from the very first day, General Consulate insisted on the issuance of an unbiased official statement about the incidents and clear announcement of the party that was exposed to attack.

As a result of the efforts of the General Consulate, the committing of this incident just by the Armenian Dashnaks found its official confirmation.

Besides, the police announced that the case will be launched against the Armenian criminals who committed these atrocities not only on the basis of the clause about the infliction of injury but also on the basis of the clause about the crime committed on grounds of hatred which is a more severe clause.

Note that immediately after the incident, the general consul contacted the head of Los Angeles Police Department Michel Moore and informed him about the seriousness of the situation and made a serious reprimand regarding the failure of the police to prevent the Armenian violence. He said the Los Angeles Police had been preliminarily notified about this counter-demonstration that would be held by our community and had given a guarantee to the General Consulate that security of the demonstrators will be fully ensured. Meanwhile, Michel Moore repeatedly apologized to the general consul for the occurred incident and noted that this issue will be seriously investigated, and he will establish a special investigation group in this regard.

As of now, one Armenian has been detained and the investigation process is being continued for identifying and bringing to the criminal responsibility of others. The General Consulate is taking all necessary measures for identifying and sanctioning of the abovementioned Armenian criminals in a short time”, is noted in the report.
