The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has commented on the mutual visits of Azerbaijani and Armenian journalists, APA's Russian bureau reports.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing today that an agreement was reached at a meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers at the initiative of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in April this year.
"Among them, there were mutual visits of mass media representatives. The visit took place on 17-21 November with the direct coordination of the Personal Assistant to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office. The visit was attended by journalists from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno Garabagh. We consider this joint event as the intention of the parties to assist in establishing contacts between Armenians and Azerbaijanis. We believe that such humanitarian actions aimed at preparing the peoples for peace should be continued. Of course, we will support it. On our part, I would like to reiterate that we will continue to provide the necessary mediation assistance to the parties," said the Russian MFA spokesperson.
