“We are trying to be close to European Council, we state that we are ready for any dialogue. But, in spite of this, Thorhildur Sunna Aevarsdottir, reporter of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) with her statements interferes with early parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan scheduled on February 9,” Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov stated while the discussion of report prepared by reporter Thorhildur Sunna Aevarsdottir regarding “Political prisoners in Azerbaijan” at winter session of the Assembly, APA’s European bureau reports.
“Now I understand why there is crisis at PACE. We are ready for any dialogue, mutual understanding. But discrediting phrases regarding Azerbaijan on the report prepared by Thorhildur Sunna Aevarsdottir are unacceptable. Azerbaijan will never accept such approach. We are ready for dialogue but when we look through the list of speakers on this report, we see Armenian representatives. Today they are judging their former presidents and speak about democracy in Azerbaijan. This is not fair. We will not accept such approach,” Samad Seyidov stated.
