Samad Seyidov: “Mnatsakanyan’s statement challenging international law will pull them into collapse and disaster”

The Chairman of International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee of Azerbaijani Parliament, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Samad Seyidov has commented on the statement of the head of Armenia’s MFA Z. Mnatsakanyan voiced at his press conference held in Yerevan regarding the unacceptability of the solution of Garabagh problem through territorial compromises to Azerbaijan, APA reports.

S. Seyidov said after the statement of the head of the Russian MFA Sergey Lavrov about the document envisaging settlement of Nagorno Garabagh conflict on the basis of the phased approach, Armenia’s minister of foreign affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan came up with a statement of hysteric nature: “The document adopted at the meeting held in April of 2019 in Moscow with the participation of ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, as well as OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, that caused the issuance of this statement, envisages liberation of a number of regions adjacent to Nagorno Garabagh, and elimination of blockade of transport, economic and other contacts.

Head of Armenia’s MFA by his statement voiced at his press conference held in Yerevan regarding unacceptability of solution of Garabagh problem through territorial compromises to Azerbaijan in fact showed Armenia’s powerlessness in solution of Nagorno Garabagh conflict and proved that Armenia represents a big threat to security and stability in the region. Actually, Z.Mnatsakanyan by this statement has also staged a very serious strike on activity of Minsk Group co-chairs. Just proceeding from this viewpoint, the Minsk Group co-chairs should state their attitude to this statement. Although we have repeatedly stated our support for solution of the conflict peacefully and through negotiations in the framework of the international law, we have witnessed the unbridled and aggressive statement contradicting with attitude of the world community and international law.

We should declare our intention of full provision of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. As the country’s leader Ilham Aliyev said earlier, “Garabagh is the historical, eternal Azerbaijani land. Thus, Garabagh is Azerbaijan and exclamation mark”. The more statements of this kind are issued and the more similar ideas are expressed, the more illegal elections are held by the Armenian government and its patrons, and the more they unmask themselves in front of the wider international public, the more activity they implement against the forces wishing to bring peace and welfare into the region, the sooner they will pull themselves into collapse and disaster”.
