Turkic Council Chairmanship passes from Azerbaijan to Turkey this year

The chairmanship of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) will pass from Azerbaijan to Turkey this year, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Yavuz Selim Kiran said at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of Turkic-speaking countries organized by the Center for Strategic Studies of the Turkish Foreign Ministry and the International Turkic Academy, APA reports.

The Deputy Minister noted that the main goal is to develop cooperation within the Turkish Council in a broader perspective.

Yavuz Selim Kiran also noted the increase in the number of countries wishing to obtain observer status in the Turkish Council.
