UN GA Special Session on COVID-19 at the initiative of Azerbaijani President kicks off

A special session on the COVID-19 pandemic is being held at UN General Assembly, APA reports.

World leaders, UN officials, and experts will discuss key aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine distribution and socio-economic issues at the 31st special session of the Assembly to be held today and tomorrow under the chairmanship of the President of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir

The two-day special session will include general discussions on December 3 and interactive dialogues with experts, UN agencies, and leading scientists on December 4.

On the first day of the session, the president of UN General Assembly, UN Secretary-General, the presidents of United Nations Economic and Social Council and Security Council, the chairman of Non-Aligned Movement Organization will deliver a speech and then present the experiences of the world leaders in the fighting pandemic and needs related to COVID-19.

On the second day of the session, three panels will be discussed cover the presentation of the director of the World Health Organization, health and humanitarian reply, improvement of vaccine, and restoration of economic and social issues.

Note that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ilham Aliyev has initiated to hold a special session on the COVID-19 pandemic at the UN General Assembly.
