US Ambassador: "Azerbaijani government takes essential steps in order to prevent spread of coronavirus"

Azerbaijani government takes essential steps in order to prevent spread of COVID-19, said US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger, APA reports.

The Ambassador welcomed the measures, taken by Azerbaijani government in order to prevent spread of the virus and expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan in this regard.

"I am calling all to follow decisions of the government seriously. Everybody, as well as US citizens should adhere to local law and requirements of the law. I and diplomatic staff closely connect with the officials of the Government of Azerbaijan in order to get information about changes, the efforts of local government in the framework of fight against COVID-19, and the latest developments, as well as to provide our support. As you know, the USA has allocated fund amounted to $ 1.7 mln to Azerbaijan for technical support. We will also continue discussions on other support means with the government of Azerbaijan,” the ambassador noted.

The ambassador has also noted that there will be no special evacuation flights for the citizens of America.
