The event dedicated to the memory of January 20 victims has been held at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia, APA’s Moskow bureau reports.

Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu laid flower in front of a plaque commemorating the victims of the night of January 20 and bas-relief of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Polad Bulbuloglu noted that 31 years have passed from that terrible night, and no matter how many years pass, the Azerbaijani people will never forget this day: “January 20 is a terrible tragedy. Firstly, the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev has denounced this tragedy. He has come to the Azerbaijani representation in Moscow, to the building that our embassy locates right now, with his family on January 21, 1990, and protested against the Soviet leadership here for the first time. At that time, this step required a lot of courage and confidence”.
