Azerbaijani MFA: Statement by the Armenian MD on purchasing offensive weapons is an indicator of aggressive policy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan made a statement regarding the interview of the Minister of Defense of Armenia David Tonoyan to countr's Public Television, ONA reports.

The Foreign Ministry statement says:

"It is impossible to threat Azerbaijan with such cheap statements by Armenian officials of a propaganda nature. Let the Armenian minister not believe that now are the first years of independence, when in the early 1990s, taking advantage of the fact that Azerbaijan was plunged into internal strife, they seized its lands. Today, Azerbaijan under the leadership of the country's President, Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev, is strong enough, professional, determined and able to liberate the occupied lands with the patriotic Armed Forces.The strong economy of Azerbaijan, successful domestic and foreign policy have turned it into an unconditional regional leader. The statement by the Armenian Defense Minister on the purchasing offensive weapons on the day when his country conducted the genocide againist the civilian population of the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly 27 years ago is a clear indication of a clearly aggressive policy.We would like to remind that at the time when in early 2016 there was a discussion of specific plans in connection with the settlement of the conflict, it was the Armenian side that adopted an offensive military doctrine and on April 2 along the contact line of troops carried out heavy shelling of densely populated areas making its targets various locations where schools, hospitals and places of religious worship were located, which led to the well-known April events.This statement by the Armenian Defense Minister clearly shows the international community who actually wants peace and who, pursuing a policy of aggression, purchase offensive weapons".
