Baku hosts UN Public Service Forum

The opening ceremony of the UN Public Service Forum is being held at the Heydar Aliyev Center, APA reports.

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic Affairs Liu Zhenmin, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service, Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ulvi Mehdiyev and other officials are attending the forum.

The Forum is held each year on June 23 on the eve of the United Nations’ Public Service Day since 2003.

The purpose of the Forum is to discuss public administration, advanced models of public service delivery, innovations and issues related to public service, as well as the exchange of best practices among States in this area.

Within the framework of the Forum, the most advanced and innovative models in the field of public services will also be awarded

More than 500 delegates from190 countries, including government ministers and public services ministers from various countries, leaders of local governments, academic circles and private sector will attend the Forum.

Plenary sessions, 9 seminars in different topics and 4 parallel events will be organized in the framework of the forum. Meanwhile awarding of UN World Service Awards’ winners of this year in 5 different categories, the sign of contracts about cooperation between State Agency and a number of foreign agencies are planned.
The factors contributing to the forum's being held in Azerbaijan are the achievements in the field of public services, successful activity of ASAN Service and the award of the UN State Service Award in 2015.
Note that the organizers of the Forum that will be held on June 24-26 are State Agency for Citizens Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UN.
