"The availability of specific data on the participation of high-ranking officials of state bodies of the Russian Federation at the above-mentioned meeting on March 5, 2019, where they were present along with representatives of the illegal regime established in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, grossly contradicts the obligations of the OSCE MG co-chairing country", - press service of Azerbaijani MFA told ONA.

According to information spread in the media, on March 5-6 this year, the second meeting of the Russian-Armenian "Lazarev Club" took place in Moscow. It was attended by official representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the Russian Federation represented by Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation S. Glazyev, who conveyed to the meeting participants the greetings of President of Russia V.Putin, as well as the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on CIS, Eurasian Integration and Relations with compatriots K.Zatulin.

“We would like to remind that in connection with the invitation to the first meeting of the above-mentioned club of representatives of the separatist regime created in the territories occupied by the Republic of Armenia, as well as the statements made during the first meeting that openly infringe upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed its discontent and indignation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

On the eve of the second meeting of the Lazarev Club, a question from the media correspondent about the position of the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding an invitation to this meeting of the leaders of the separatist regime from the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan was expressed by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry that this was a civil society event and non-governmental organizations, and no information on the participation in it of representatives of state bodies of the Russian Federation. At the same time, it was announced that, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, the Russian Federation fulfills all its obligations.

In this regard, we inform the Russian side that the availability of specific data on the participation of high-ranking officials of state bodies of the Russian Federation at the above-mentioned meeting on March 5, 2019, where they were present along with representatives of the illegal regime established in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, grossly contradicts the country's obligations Co-Chairperson of the OSCE Minsk Group, defined by the mandate of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, clearly indicating “that the co-chairs in their activities will vodstvovatsya OSCE principles and norms of the UN Charter, resolutions of the OSCE fora, including the Council of Ministers decision of 24 March 1992, and in particular the decision of the Budapest Summit, as well as relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council."

Once again we call on the Russian side to ensure the commitments undertaken in the framework of bilateral relations, in particular, to comply with the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Security between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation of 1997, which specifically states that “the Parties undertake not to support the separatist movements, as well as prohibit and suppress the activities of individuals who are against the state sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the other side, ” is being reported in the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
